The limbic system and the “religious brain”

چکیده
The human body is a fascinating and complex array and composition of protoplasm that is arranged in cells, organs and other substructures. The body has one common goal: to survive. To ensure survival, the body has to be kept intact and protected from the outside world by the largest organ – the skin. Under the skin, a most fascinating array of cells and substructures are systematically and functionally arranged. These cells and organs are all bathed in a fluid that is called the interstitial fluid. This fluid seems to have the same constituents of sea water. The human organs are arranged in systems that have to

P36: Role of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor in Pathogenesis and Treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a syndrome causing from a severe traumatic happening that leads to threatened death or injury. PTSD is associated with changes in limbic, hippocampal, and prefrontal cortical region function due to changes in synaptogenesis, dendritic modifying, and neurogenesis. Changes in neuron in PTSD patients result from pathophysiological disturbances in inflammato...

Background: Depression, as one of the most prevalent and disabling disorders in the world, has a complex and yet not well-known pathophysiology. Genetic, hormonal, neurotransmitter, inflammatory and neurodegenerative theories are all responsible. Studies show that depression leads to structural changes in the hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, amygdala, anterior cingulate, and basal bodies. Hippoc...
متن کاملO7: Limbic System and its Disorders (Focus on Emotions Including Anxiety)
The cerebral cortex can be functionally subdivided into primary sensory-motor, unimodal association, heteromodal association, paralimbic and limbic regions. Broca was the first who described limbic lobe in 1874, as a ring of gray matter, lying between the diencephalon and more lateral neocortex on the medial surface of the hemisphers. It locates outside of the corpus callosum and consists of su...
متن کاملO 15: Limbic Encephalitis: General Aspects of Pathophysiology, Symptoms and Therapeutic Options
Patients with limbic encephalitis usually present with new onset mesial temporal lobe seizures, progressive memory disturbance, and a variety of other behavioral, emotional, and cognitive changes. Autoimmune inflammation of the limbic gray matter structures of the human brain has recently been identified as major cause of mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with interictal temporal epileptiform activ...
متن کاملUsing BELBIC based optimal controller for omni-directional threewheel robots model identified by LOLIMOT
In this paper, an intelligent controller is applied to control omni-directional robots motion. First, the dynamics of the three wheel robots, as a nonlinear plant with considerable uncertainties, is identified using an efficient algorithm of training, named LoLiMoT. Then, an intelligent controller based on brain emotional learning algorithm is applied to the identified model. This emotional l...
متن کاملO6: Pathophysiology of Anxiety Disorders
The most important risk factors for anxiety disorders include genes, early life stress, and current stress. These factors do not act independently but interact with each other throughout human development through examples such as epigenetic modifications and complex forms of learning. The neural substrate of pathological anxiety includes hyperactivity in the amygdala and other limbic brain regi...
